Through the 2022 “Heartbeat of Hope” campaign held on May 3, The Light FM listeners donated enough money in a single day to provide 1,844 pregnant women with ultrasounds and faith-based support. This year, The Light FM partnered with seven area faith-based pregnancy centers to bring awareness to their services including pregnancy tests, counseling, ultrasounds and post-abortion programs.
This was the fifth year for The Light FM’s “Heartbeat of Hope”—with gifts received totaling $322,700 in eleven hours of fundraising. Since the inception of the event, The Light FM has been able to raise enough money for 8,884 ultrasounds for local pregnancy centers, with 100 percent of the donations going directly to the centers.
“The Light FM listeners are truly amazing. For the fifth year in a row, we have asked them to step in and support their local pregnancy centers’ mission to serve their community by providing free ultrasounds and care for moms who sometimes find themselves in difficult situations,” said John Owens, general manager of Blue Ridge Broadcasting. “Because of the generosity of The Light FM donors, we are able to send every penny of these donations directly to the pregnancy centers right here in our neighborhoods.”
Throughout the day on May 3, The Light FM shared the message that 80 percent of women who are wrestling with a decision about their pregnancy will choose life when they see their child’s beating heart at a pregnancy center. The station also reminded listeners that they could provide one woman with an ultrasound and faith-based support for $175.
Listeners who donated had the choice to “give where they live,” choosing a specific faith-based pregnancy center to support. Every dollar donated was directly given to one of these centers:
- Mountain Area Pregnancy Services in Asheville, North Carolina
- Pregnancy Care Center of Catawba Valley in Hickory, North Carolina
- Salem Pregnancy Care Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina
- Palmetto Women’s Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina
- Hope Resource Center in Knoxville, Tennessee
- Carolina Pregnancy Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina
- Agape Women’s Services in Johnson City, Tennessee
“Listeners heard the vision behind ‘Show a Life. Save a Life’ and the critical role of ultrasounds at pregnancy centers. The response in giving was nothing short of humbling. Our team thanks God for all the love listeners showed in responding to how He led them to support life yesterday through ‘Heartbeat of Hope,’” said Jim Kirkland, executive director of Blue Ridge Broadcasting.
Those who are interested in supporting the “Heartbeat of Hope” campaign can still do so by visiting TheLightFM.org/heartbeat-of-hope and handpicking a center to receive their gift.
