The first-known photograph of Billy Graham is with his mother, Morrow Graham, when he is six months old.
Billy Graham, the oldest of four, holds his baby sister, Jean Graham Ford. Jean is Graham’s only surviving sibling.
In 1940, Billy Graham enrolls at Wheaton College, where he meets Ruth McCue Bell, a fellow student and daughter of medical missionaries. (This photo was taken shortly after their engagement in 1941.)

In anticipation of the birth of their first child, the Billy and Ruth Graham move to Montreat, North Carolina, in 1945. The secluded mountain home offered respite and privacy as Billy’s ministry expanded.

Ruth and Billy Graham go to New York in 1957 for a Crusade initially scheduled for six weeks. Overflow crowds prompted the organizers to extend the meetings for a total of 16 weeks, making it Graham’s longest-running Crusade. More than 2 million people heard Graham in person from May 15 to Sept. 1.

Billy Graham founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in 1950. His son Franklin (right) has served as CEO and president of the organization since 2000 and 2001, respectively (photo: Ottawa, Ontario, 1998).
"Evangelistic preaching is what Daddy does," said Franklin Graham in his autobiography. "I never thought that I would." Today, though, Franklin Graham holds evangelistic festivals around the world. After a private funeral service on March 2, 2018, Billy Graham will be buried at the Billy Graham Library Prayer Garden, located at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in Charlotte. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Ruth, who was buried June 17, 2007.
