CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 23, 2022 – Last week, more than 150 Hispanic evangelical leaders gathered at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove for the first “Summit de Evangelismo” (Evangelism Summit). People from 14 denominations, 21 churches, five evangelistic associations, three educational institutions, and 45 organizations took part in panel discussions and workshops. In addition, speakers offered a wide range of voices and perspectives within the Hispanic evangelical church.
“The United States has one of the highest populations of Hispanics in the world, second only to Mexico,” said Chris Swanson, vice president of Hispanic Initiatives. “The churches, denominations and organizations, as well as the leaders gathered at Summit de Evangelismo, represent millions of Hispanics in the United States, and millions more in their home countries as well. We want to share tools with these leaders that the BGEA has developed over decades of ministry so they can reach more people with the Gospel.”
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) has been sharing the Gospel in Spanish-speaking countries since Billy Graham’s first Crusade tour to Latin America in 1958. The organization is currently expanding its efforts to reach the Spanish-speaking community in the United States with resources including online tools and materials, special events at the Billy Graham Library, and more.
