CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 6, 2019 – Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) chaplains are deploying to Pensacola, Florida, after a shooting at the Naval Air Station left four people dead—including the shooter.
“We are deeply saddened by the shooting that took place Friday morning at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. We recognize we not only have military personnel that have been affected, but it has also deeply affected the civilian community in Pensacola,” said Jack Munday, international director of the RRT. “Our chaplains have been invited by Olive Baptist Church to come support the church and community after this tragic attack and we will have four chaplains there throughout the weekend—including at the memorial service that the church will be hosting—to share God’s hope and provide emotional and spiritual support to those who are grieving.”
The shooter was part of a group of international trainees at the base, which employs more than 16,000 military members. The shooting began just before 7 a.m. central time Friday killing three and injuring seven others before the shooter was killed by the responding Sheriff’s deputies.
