FAIRMONT, W.Va., April 27, 2021 – As the Mountain State Celebration with Will Graham approaches, event organizers will offer a series of free classes to help local Christians develop their faith and learn to talk to others about their beliefs. The sessions are the latest in a lineup of Celebration-related events which will culminate with the three-day outreach at Fairmont State University’s Duvall-Rosier Field, July 23-25, 2021.
“Many Christians feel ill-equipped to share their faith with those around them. The desire is there, but they’re afraid that they might not have all the answers,” said BJ Rogers, who is directing the Mountain State Celebration. “As we come to Fairmont to proclaim a message of hope, we also want to equip local believers with the essentials that they need, showing them that they can share the love of Jesus and do it effectively.”
The two-session series – called the Christian Life and Witness Course – is free of charge, open to everybody, and no registration is required. The training is being held in multiple locations on multiple dates to make it accessible to as many people as possible. Dates and locations include:
Session One (7-9 p.m.):
- Monday, May 3: Chestnut Ridge Church, 2223 Cheat Road, Morgantown, WV, 26508
- Tuesday, May 4: South Ridge Church – Bridgeport, 164 Thompson Drive, Bridgeport, WV, 26330
- Tuesday, May 4: Central United Methodist Church, 301 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, WV, 26554
Session Two (7-9 p.m.):
- Wednesday, May 5: Chestnut Ridge Church, 2223 Cheat Road, Morgantown, WV, 26508
- Thursday, May 6: South Ridge Church – Bridgeport, 164 Thompson Drive, Bridgeport, WV, 26330
- Thursday, May 6: Central United Methodist Church, 301 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, WV, 26554
It is important to attend both sessions. However, attendees do not need to go to the same location every time. Everybody (age 13 and older) who completes the Christian Life and Witness Course will have the opportunity to apply to volunteer as counselors at the Mountain State Celebration in July.
The Christian Life and Witness Course was originally held in and around Fairmont in February and March of last year, just before much of the country shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the Mountain State Celebration was subsequently postponed. Those who already attended last year’s training are welcome and encouraged to attend again as a refresher, though it is not required to participate as a counselor at the Celebration.
