Evangelist Franklin Graham is bringing a message of hope to Hampton Roads on the fifth stop of the God Loves You Tidewater Tour. The program in Portsmouth will include live performances by Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling Newsboys, five-time Latin Grammy-winner Marcos Witt, and award-winning musician Dennis Agajanian. The event is free, family-friendly, and all are welcome. In addition to serving as president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, which shares the Good News of Jesus Christ around the world, Franklin Graham leads Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization with work in more than 170 countries and territories, including war-torn Ukraine.
The God Loves You Tidewater Tour is an outreach of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), and it is visiting six cities across Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland this spring. During each event, Franklin Graham will remind people that God cares for them and has a purpose for their lives. More than 125 churches throughout Hampton Roads are working with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association because they say the life-changing message of the Bible needs to be shared in this region. Over the past seven years, more than half a million people have attended Graham’s tours across all 50 states.

WHY: Dr. Allen McFarland, senior pastor of Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church in Portsmouth, said, “The greatest dilemmas in our communities and the world today can be solved with Jesus Christ. Nothing can change and satisfy a person like the Gospel of Christ.” He continued saying, “There isn’t a government institution or political, religious, or secular party that can meet the desires of the human heart. Drugs, alcohol, people and organizations can’t do this either. Only Jesus Christ can satisfy the human heart and soul.”
