Rain cannot hold back the Gospel as hundreds accept Christ at the Celebration of Love with Will Graham in Medan, Indonesia

MEDAN, Indonesia, June 30, 2025 – More than 27,750 people filled Astaka Pancing Field in Medan, Indonesia, for the two-day Celebration of Love with Will Graham (known locally as Perayaan Kasih), June 25-26, 2025. The Celebration was held by a large collection of Indonesian churches, who invited Graham – the grandson of Billy Graham and son of Franklin Graham – to share the Good News of the Gospel at their outreach.

“God loves you so much, He gave you a gift. That gift is forgiveness of sin. You can’t earn it or buy it. All you can do is receive it tonight. Receive it by faith,” said Graham. “Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven because He’s the only One who died for your sin.”

Both evenings, hundreds streamed forward when Graham invited them to make a decision to follow Christ. On Thursday night, June 26, those decisions were made in a driving rainstorm. As some ran for the cover of nearby buildings, others ran forward to surrender their eternities into the hands of Jesus. All told, more than 2,100 people made spiritual decisions, of which more than 85% were first-time salvations.

“The most remarkable outcomes of partnering with the BGEA for the Celebration of Love has been new followers of Christ, a generation of youth passionate for Christ, and a spirit of unity and collaboration among the churches as the Body of Christ,” said Rev. Dr. Robert Benedictus of GBI (a large Indonesian denomination), who also served as Graham’s interpreter for the outreach. “This has truly been a historical moment.”

The Celebration of Love was an evangelistic project more than two years in the making. Over 800 area churches partnered together and actively participated in the process. More than 7,000 Christians were trained to share their faith and lead others to Christ.

Over the course of the two days, more than 350 buses brought people from all across North Sumatra for the Celebration of Love. In addition to Graham’s messages, those in attendance enjoyed free concerts by Christian artists including local worship teams and American artists Aaron Shust and The Afters.

Will Graham is the first of his family to share the Gospel in the nation of Indonesia. Earlier this year, he proclaimed the hope of Christ in Arizona and Bolivia. Remaining events on Graham’s 2025 calendar include outreaches in Toronto, Canada, and Tallinn, Estonia, along with the four-city Sunshine State Good News Tour in Tallahassee, Gainesville, Sarasota, and Pompano Beach, Florida.
