Franklin Graham to speak to nation and lead a prayer on America’s 250th anniversary

WASHINGTON, July 3, 2026 – Franklin Graham has been invited to share a message of faith and lead the country in prayer during Freedom 250: Salute to America, the national celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The historic event will take place at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on July 4, and Graham’s remarks are expected sometime after 8:30 p.m. ET.

In addition to his message and prayer during Freedom 250 in Washington on Saturday, Franklin Graham will also conclude his 50-day prayer campaign—One Nation Under God—by sharing a prayer for the nation on his social media pages at noon.

For the 50 days leading up to Independence Day, Graham asked one pastor from each of the 50 states to lead everyone in praying for the nation and the prayers were posted daily on his social media platforms and the BGEA website.

“I’m thankful for each pastor who was a part of this and for everyone who joined us in praying for the last 50 days. It is my prayer that our nation would turn to Jesus Christ and be One Nation Under God,” said Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse. “Just because we have reached the final day of our 50 days of prayer does not mean this is the end. This is just the beginning! Every day, we need to be praying for our families, our churches, our leaders, and this nation. God is the One who has kept our country through every storm, and we must continue to call on His Name as we face the days to come.”

The 50 prayer videos from all 50 pastors are now available on OneNationUnderGod.com and feature prayers for issues facing our homes, schools, government, and society.

Graham has called Christians across the United States to prayer during critical moments many times before, including in 2016 when he prayed at all 50 state capitals, and in 2020 when he led a Prayer March at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

His father, Billy Graham, also recognized the importance of praying for our nation. When he stood on the steps on the U.S. Capitol building in 1952, he called on Congress to establish a national day of prayer—which has now been observed in the United States for the past 75 years.
