The European Congress on Evangelism opened with cheers and applause in Berlin, Germany, on Tuesday with a colorful flag presentation for the countries and territories in Europe.

Before leading the evangelism Congress in an opening prayer, Dr. Reinhardt Schink, president and co-leader of the German Evangelical Alliance, said: “We all feel how important the topic of evangelism is especially in these days and especially from our continent of Europe.” He continued, “The Word of God is the only power that can stop the unfolding culture of death which is increasingly recognized in Europe. Our common confession is that life unfolds only in the presence of Jesus Christ.”
The Congress was convened by Rev. Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse.
During the keynote address, he spoke to more than 1,000 Christian leaders from 55 European countries and territories about God’s command to preach the Gospel.
In Graham’s opening remarks, he asked, “In 2025, how do we evangelize a world that is becoming more and more secular?”
Graham urged the crowd of Christians to stand firm on God’s Word no matter how unpopular it may be.
“Don’t be ashamed of the Gospel. Declare it! Proclaim it! Shout it! There is Holy Spirit-filled power when we preach it.” Graham continued saying, “If we’re going to reach Europe, we’re going to need an army, an army of evangelists—unafraid, unashamed, unapologetic, uncompromising—standing on the Word of God.”
