Ebola Survivor to Sign Books at the Billy Graham Library Saturday

CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 17, 2015The Billy Graham Library will welcome Ebola survivor, Dr. Kent Brantly, and his wife, Amber Brantly, for a book signing of their new book Called for Life: How Loving Our Neighbor Led Us into the Heart of the Ebola Epidemic on July 25.

In October 2013, Dr. Brantly, along with his wife and two children, moved to the west African country of Liberia to serve as medical missionaries with World Medical Mission, the medical arm of Samaritan’s Purse. Just a few short months later, the world watched as nation after nation across western Africa fell susceptible to a widespread Ebola pandemic. Dr. Brantly was one of two Americans who contracted the deadly virus while serving in Liberia.

Just days before he fell ill, Brantly’s wife and children left their mission field home in Monrovia, Liberia, for a trip to their home base in the United States.

In Called for Life, the Brantlys recount their experience with Ebola and how—even when faced with death–they continued to cling to their faith in Jesus Christ as the one true source of hope and strength.

“Kent gives God the credit for saving his life and surviving the deadly Ebola virus that infected him while serving others in the name of Jesus,” wrote Franklin Graham, president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, in the book’s forward. “Dr. Brantly and his wife Amber had obediently gone as medical missionaries and were the recipients of prayers from around the world as they battled an attack that threatened their future. They are an extraordinary couple—who are Called for Life to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.”

The Brantlys will sign copies of Called for Life and greet guests at the Billy Graham Library on Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m. to noon. Books will be available for purchase in Ruth’s Attic bookstore, or you may bring your own. Please call the Billy Graham Library with any questions at 704-401-3200.
