CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 4, 2020 – From personal tragedies like disease, suicide and financial difficulties, to catastrophes on a massive scale such as shootings, fires and hurricanes, many Christians may feel unprepared to offer comfort to the weary and hope to those in despair.
The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) – an international network of crisis-trained chaplains ready to deploy whenever disaster strikes – will hold a pair of regional “Sharing Hope in Crisis” training seminars in the Charlotte area in 2020. The first will be March 7 at Central Church of God in Charlotte and the second will be held May 2 at MorningStar Fellowship Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Both seminars will help prepare Christians to appropriately respond with the love and hope of Jesus Christ in times of crisis.
“You don’t have to go through a hurricane or a fire to have a storm in your life,” said International Director of the RRT Jack Munday. “In these days of uncertainty, we see suffering and tragedy all around us. It could be a loved one with cancer, the death of a friend, a job loss or divorce. As people seek answers to life’s problems, it is imperative that we be able to share God’s hope and comfort with them. The seminar will help prepare you to do just that.”
Munday, along with Assistant Director of the RRT Josh Holland, will lead the seminars, which will run from 8:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. He will speak on topics such as: “a Biblical view of suffering,” “effects of trauma,” “listening skills,” and “what to say and what not to say,” among others.
