Chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) are responding to St. Louis, Missouri, after a school shooting in which three people were killed and six others were injured. The chaplains arrived Monday night, hours after the shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School. Police Chief Michael Sack said that the fast response by a security guard, along with police officers who responded, helped to end the shooting before more people were killed or injured.
“As a father of four, my heart is heavy to hear about this tragic shooting at a high school,” said Josh Holland, international director of the BG-RRT. “We are sending our crisis-trained chaplains to pray with and share God’s love with those who have been impacted by this horrific tragedy.”
BG-RRT chaplains are now serving in seven locations. Besides St. Louis, Missouri, chaplains are serving in three areas of Florida after Hurricane Ian battered the southwest coast of the state. They are comforting and assisting people who were impacted by Hurricane Fiona in Puerto Rico. They continue to minister to people in eastern Kentucky, comforting residents affected by recent severe flooding, and they are serving in Ukraine, offering hope and providing comfort and compassion to families who have been forced to flee their homes.
