Chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) have announced a deployment to Oklahoma after tornadoes ripped through the region Wednesday, May 4. BG-RRT chaplains will arrive Saturday in Seminole, Oklahoma – 60 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. Widespread damage from the storm has been reported.
“The tornadoes that swept through Oklahoma are heartbreaking to see. It’s devastating when there is so much destruction,” said Josh Holland, international director of the BG-RRT. “We are praying for everyone involved and plan to have crisis-trained chaplains there to serve the people in Oklahoma, to show them God’s love and provide emotional and spiritual support for all of those who are hurting.”
The team of crisis-trained chaplains is serving alongside the disaster relief organization Samaritan’s Purse to help meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those impacted by the tornadoes.
BG-RRT chaplains are now serving in three locations. Besides Oklahoma, BG-RRT chaplains continue to serve in Ukraine, working alongside several Samaritan’s Purse Emergency Field Hospitals. Chaplains are also en route to Poland to offer hope and provide comfort and compassion to families who have been forced to flee from Ukraine.
