Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains deploy to Mississippi and Louisiana following severe winter storm

OXFORD, Miss., Jan. 29, 2026 – The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is deploying crisis-trained chaplains to multiple locations across Mississippi and Louisiana in response to widespread damage caused by the recent winter storm.

Hundreds of homes across northern Mississippi, western Tennessee, and northeast Louisiana have been impacted by heavy ice, snow, and prolonged power outages. The winter storm has claimed dozens of lives across multiple states and is being described as a historic storm, with life-threatening conditions ongoing across the South.

Beginning Jan. 30, chaplains will deploy to the following locations:

  • Oxford, Mississippi – serving Lafayette County
  • Corinth, Mississippi – serving Alcorn, Tippah, and Tishomingo counties in Mississippi, as well as McNairy and Hardin counties in Tennessee
  • West Monroe, Louisiana – serving Ouachita and Richland parishes

“The impact of the winter storm has been severe, widespread, and devastating,” said Josh Holland, vice president of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team Global. “This long-lasting storm has left thousands of people facing fear, loss, and uncertainty about what comes next. As we mobilize chaplain teams across multiple areas, our focus is on serving the emotional and spiritual needs of the communities that are suffering—offering comfort, prayer, and the hope of Jesus Christ.”

In addition to Oxford, Corinth and West Monroe, the BG-RRT continues to offer emotional and spiritual care to families who have been forced to flee their homes in war-torn Ukraine.

It has since grown into an international network of chaplains in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia who are specifically trained to deal with crisis situations. They have deployed to more than 900 disaster sites across the globe, including shootings, floods, hurricanes, wildfires and tornadoes.
