Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains deploy to Carroll County, Virginia, after a law enforcement officer was killed in the line of duty

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 2, 2026 – The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is deploying to Carroll County, Virginia, after two law enforcement officers were shot while conducting a welfare check on Fancy Gap Highway on Friday, May 29. Deputy Logan Utt with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was killed in the line of duty and the other officer was wounded.

“We are heartbroken to hear of the loss of Deputy Logan Utt. This hero served his country and the community where he lived. His life was taken in a senseless act of violence,” said Josh Holland, vice president of the BG-RRT Global. “But we know that God is close to the brokenhearted. Crisis-trained chaplains will come alongside the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, to let them know that they are not alone and to provide emotional and spiritual support to their officers as they mourn their fallen brother.”

In addition to Carroll County, BG-RRT chaplains are ministering to those affected by recent floods in Oahu, Hawaii, and Western Michigan, and offering hope and providing emotional comfort and spiritual care to families who have been forced to flee their homes in war-torn Ukraine.
