From humble beginnings on a North Carolina dairy farm to an evangelist who has spoken to 210 million people in 185 countries, Billy Graham’s life story and more than 50 years of ministry will soon be a historical journey that any visitor to Charlotte can discover.
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) held a private groundbreaking ceremony for the Billy Graham Library, Friday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. on the property of the organization’s new headquarters on the Billy Graham Parkway in Charlotte.
Estimated to attract some 200,000 people each year, the Billy Graham Library will be an innovative and interactive facility that chronicles the life, ministry, and message of Billy Graham. Visitors will experience exhibits, multimedia displays and films in the midst of a recreated dairy farm environment. The family-friendly complex will also include the original Graham family homestead, a resource center, and an on-site restaurant with a “country kitchen” menu.
The 40,000 square foot Library is expected to open in 18 to 24 months and will be free to the public.
