CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 17, 2017—Since opening in 2007, the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, N.C., has welcomed more than 1.1 million visitors from all 50 U.S. states and 90 countries around the world. In 2017, the Library will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a variety of special events, book signings with popular authors, and memorabilia displays from the archive collection of Billy Graham’s personal life and ministry in addition to the annual Ladies Tea and Tour, Bikers with Boxes, and Christmas at the Library.
The Library kicked off the New Year with the addition of never-before-seen memorabilia to The Journey of Faith tour from Billy Graham’s more than 60-year ministry. The collection, called “Pioneering Christian Cinema,” is on temporary display through March 31 and focuses on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s use of film to share the Gospel. Items in the collection include memorabilia from several of full-length film productions that have been used as outreach tools around the world for decades.
A number of new events have been added this year — inviting workers from several service industries to come be encouraged and tour The Journey of Faith. The first will welcome hotel employees from 8-10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, followed by events for medical professionals on March 10, non-profit employees on May 19, and pastors on Oct. 6.
On Saturday, March 25, NFL tight-end Benjamin Watson from the Baltimore Ravens—who grew up in nearby Rock Hill, S.C.—will sign copies of his book, Under Our Skin, from 10-11 a.m. Under Our Skin can be purchased at Ruth’s Attic bookstore in the Library or the guest may bring their own copy. Limit of two signed items per person (one item must be Under Our Skin).
Other events that will return in 2017 include, Hosanna: An Easter Celebration on April 8, the Ladies Tea and Tour on April 29 with guest speaker Missy Robertson from A&E’s Duck Dynasty; Mother’s Day Breakfast on May 13; Doughnuts with Dad on June 17; Men’s Breakfast and Tour; Bikers with Boxes on Oct. 21; Veteran’s Day Breakfast on Nov. 10; Ladies Night Out on Nov. 17 with guest speaker Cissie Graham Lynch; Teddy Bear Tea on Dec. 2; and the 10th annual Christmas at the Library from Dec. 1-23.
The Billy Graham Library will also hold a special 10th anniversary celebration in June to commemorate the milestone. Details are still being confirmed and will be released in coming weeks. Also, to thank guests for their patronage, the Library will have giveaways on the 10th of each month.
