Billy Graham Archive Materials Move to Billy Graham Library

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 13, 2019 – Today Billy Graham archive materials were transferred from Wheaton College back into the hands of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). The archive materials housed at Wheaton College for four decades are now on their way to the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, N.C. The move consolidates the Billy Graham Library’s holdings of historical paper records, audio and video recordings, and digital materials of the late Billy Graham’s life and ministry.

To assist with research during the next two years, BGEA plans to maintain digital copies of certain materials at Wheaton College. The materials include Billy Graham’s sermon manuscripts, correspondence with world leaders and persons of influence, and numerous press and media clippings books of Graham’s evangelistic, civic and personal endeavors. After June 1, 2021, the digital files will also be returned to BGEA in Charlotte.

With the transition of the archives, Wheaton College will also announce updates to its facilities and the educational programming that was previously associated with the Billy Graham Center.

“We appreciate the cooperation of Wheaton’s leadership in this endeavor,” said Franklin Graham, president and CEO of BGEA. Graham also said that development is underway for a new research center on the Charlotte campus where the Billy Graham Library and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association are located. Details of the new facility and the re-opening of the archives at the Billy Graham Library will be announced once plans are finalized.

Among the Billy Graham-related records moving to Charlotte are:

  • Legal papers, audio/visual collections and scrapbooks reflecting the history of Billy Graham’s ministry and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association
  • Crusade procedure books
  • Conferences for itinerant evangelists in 1983, 1986 and 2000
  • Radio and TV recordings
